How To Make Meat Pie With Gas Cooker

Meat pie is one of the most loved pie in the world, it is a pie with a chunky filling of meat and often other savoury ingredients and it is usually baked in an oven.

If you have ever wondered what other tool you can use to make meat pie asides from an oven, you are in the right place.

Today, I will be guiding you on how to make meat pie without an oven or with a gas cooker.

Ingredients Needed

  • 8 cups or 1kg of flour
  • 500g of margarine
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 2 medium irish potato
  • 2 medium carrot
  • 500g of minced meat
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 spoons of vegetable Oil
  • 2 cubes of maggi (preferably Knorr cubes)
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme

Kitchen Tools Needed

  • Bowl
  • Knife
  • Gas or stove
  • Frying or saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Fork
  • Aluminum pot
  • Baking pan
  • Kitchen towel
  • Round cutter
  • Baking brush
  • Tray

Process Involved In Baking Meat Pie With Gas Cooker

There are 3 stages required to pass to make the sweetest meat pie with a gas cooker and they are:

1. The dough preparation process
2. The filling preparation process
3. The baking process

The dough preparation process:

To prepare the dough for your meat pie, do the following:

1. Pour 8 cups of flour into a clean large size bowl
2. Add a pinch of salt and 2 teaspoons of baking powder into the bowl and mix it with the flour
3. Add 500g of margarine into the bowl, 1/2cup of water and mix all together evenly to form your dough
4. Transfer the dough into another bowl and cover with a kitchen towel to allow your dough to settle and rise

The filling preparation process:

1. Peel and scrape off the external part of your carrots and potatoes, rinse and also cut them into smaller pieces (dice size)
2. Also, take out the peel of your onions and cut them into smaller pieces
3. Turn on your gas or stove and place your clean frying or sauce pan on it
4. Pour 2 spoons of vegetable oil into the pan and allow to heat for 2 minutes
5. Add your sliced onions and fry
6. Then add 500g of minced meat and fry
7. Add a teaspoon of thyme, 2 knorr cubes and a very small drop of water, then cover for 5 minutes
8. After 5 minutes, add your sliced potatoes and carrots
9. Mix 2 tablespoons of flour with a small amount of water, stir and add to the mixture frying
10. Cover for 2 minutes to allow it to steam

The baking process:

1. Pour some fine sand into an aluminum pot and place on the gas or stove, allow it to heat on very low heat
2. Break on egg into a small bowl, mix and set aside
3. Now roll your dough and cut out a circular shape that is 0.5 centimeters thick with a round cutter
4. Add the filling to one half of the circular dough you created, insert the baking brush into the egg and brush it over the edge of the other half of the dough
5. Now seal the dough by closing it with it half that was coated with egg
Repeat step 4 and 5 for each piece of dough
6. Now place all the folded dough into a flat surface (preferably a tray)
7. Run the brush coated with egg over all the dough to prevent it from sticking to each other
8. Also, use a fork to seal the edge of each dough
9. Now place the dough into baking and insert the baking pan into the aluminum pot that has sand in it. Note that the pot must be bigger than the baking pan.
10. Flip the meat pie every 8 minutes to prevent it from burning

Your meat pie should be ready after 40 to 50 minutes
