The Bank Verification Number (BVN) was introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to curb all forms of financial fraud and theft.

BVN is an 11 digit unique identity given to every individual across the Nigerian banking industry, it is a guide for the operation of watch-list in the financial sector.

The Bank Verification Number (BVN) was put into the financial sector to help provide a database of watch-listed individuals and put a stop to fraud incidence in the banking sector.

Instruction On How To Check BVN Online

Checking your BVN details online is quite easy, there are 2 ways you can do that and they are via USSD code and from your bank account

USSD Code Method:

Checking your BVN via USSD code is the easiest way to go about it, all you have to do is to dial *565*0# and you will receive a message that goes as follows “Your BVN: “12345678910”. Thank you for using BVN service. You have been charged N20.48 for the service”. 

However, if you receive the message that goes as follows “Sorry your number is not enrolled on the BVN platform. Thank you for using BVN service. You have been charged N20.48 for the service”, it simply means you do not have a Bank Verification Number (BVN) assigned to you yet, kindly visit your bank to enrol for it.

Bank Account Method:

You can check your BVN using your bank account by doing any of the following:

1. Call your bank customer care line or visit the nearest branch to request to check the Bank Verification Number (BVN) attached to your account

2. Log in to your bank mobile app and locate the BVN column
