How to Dial an Extension on iPhone

How to Dial an Extension on iPhone

When it comes to dialling an extension on an iPhone, there are a few methods you can use. One common way is to dial the main number first and then wait for an automated message that prompts you to enter the extension number. However, I’m about to show you a more efficient method that allows you to dial both the main number and the extension all at once.

1. Open the Phone app on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the Keypad tab at the bottom of the screen.

3. Enter the main phone number you wish to call.

4. After entering the main number, tap and hold the * (asterisk) key until a comma appears on the screen. The comma serves as a pause and informs your phone that you’re about to dial an extension.

5. Enter the extension number immediately after the comma (e.g., 406).

6. Finally, tap the green call button to dial the number along with the extension.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly connect with the desired party without the need to manually enter the extension after the call is connected.

How to Add an Extension to a Phone Number in Your Contacts

If you frequently call a number with an extension, it’s convenient to save the extension along with the phone number in your contacts. This way, the extension will already be included when you dial the contact. Here’s how you can add a phone extension to a contact on your iPhone:

1. Open the Contacts app on your iPhone.

2. Select the contact you want to add the extension to. If the number is not already saved, create a new contact by tapping the plus icon and entering the contact’s details.

3. Tap the Edit button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

4. Tap on the phone number you wish to add the extension to or tap the + icon to add a new phone number for the contact.

5. Tap the symbols button on the keyboard.

6. Position the cursor at the end of the phone number and tap “pause” to insert a comma.

7. Enter the extension number after the comma.

8. Tap Done to save the changes to the contact.

By following these steps, you can ensure that the extension is included whenever you dial the contact, saving you time and effort.
