How To Make Coconut Candy

Going with my childhood memories when naira had so much value, coconut candy which was sold for just 5 naira only was a source of joy to me and my peers.

Coconut candy was almost every child go-to snack.

Several years later, I visited a popular market in Lagos and saw one of the market women displaying coconut candy for sale.

I was shocked, didn’t know it still existed.

I bought some and enjoyed eating it as I used to several years back.

After it finished, I made some research on how to make coconut candy at home, I found the recipe and instructions on how to go about it and I made it.

Today, I will be sharing with you steps on how to make coconut candy at home and the ingredients or recipe to be used.

Recipe/Ingredients Needed To Make Coconut Candy

1. 3.5 cup of coconut flakes
2. 1/8 cup of sugar
3. 1/3 cup of honey
4. 1/2 teaspoon of ginger (this is optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed To Make Coconut Candy

1. Gas or stove
2. Frying or sauce pan
3. Measuring cup
4. Spoon
5. Turning stick
6. Tray
7. Bowl

Steps On How To Make Coconut Candy

Step 1: Turn on your gas or stove and place your frying or sauce pan on it
Step 2: Heat your frying or sauce pan dry
Step 3: Pour your coconut flakes into the dry frying or sauce pan and continue to stir until some part of it turns golden brown
Step 4: Transfer the coconut flakes into a bowl
Step 5: Pour your honey into the frying or sauce pan on your gas or stove
Step 6: Add your sugar
Step 7: Also, add some ginger (this is optional)
Step 8: Stir the mixture of honey, sugar and ginger continuously while it boils
Step 9: After 3 minutes, pour your coconut flakes into the mixture
Step 10: Then stir properly to allow the honey, sugar and ginger mixture to get into the coconut flakes
Step 11: Turn off the heat after stirring for 5 to 7 minutes
Step 12: Now, mold the coconut flakes and honey, sugar and ginger mixture into small balls and transfer them to a tray
Step 13: Leave it to dry for 45 to 1hr

Congratulations, your coconut candy is ready to be eaten.
